These are believed to be the first moai made on the island. They are also the only ones who direct their view towards the sea. According to ancient legends they look towards ´´Hiva´´, the place where the first inhabitants of this island came from.
The seven moai represent the seven explorers who were sent to Easter Island by King Hotu Matu´a to see the terrain. This place is located at the foot of ´´Maunga Terevaka´´, the highest hill on the island. This hill has a height of 520 meters.
